The High Achievers Recognition Scheme (HARS) was launched in 2015 at Birmingham City University, designed to support you alongside your degree programme, to develop your knowledge and skills in four tracks. It is a scheme which recognises both effort and achievement.
HARS provides you with an opportunity to develop yourselves personally, professionally and academically, to position yourself to become an effective leader in your chosen career. This is achieved via a series of seminars, workshops and more bespoke opportunities for students individually or in small professional groups.
How will joining benefit me?
It's always best to hear straight from the students, click here to hear from some of our HARS students, both graduates and current members.
HARS at BCU is the only scheme of its kind in the UK which is currently supporting students at University level to step on and step up and maximise their potential to become the best that they can be alongside their degree qualification.

I want to encourage all of the students to take up the HARS offer; without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I have been able to directly apply [HARS] to my personal and career development.

Being able to participate online meant that I did not need to factor in commute time.

One of the things I respect most about the [HARS] Team is that they are true to their word and their doors are always open to students and staff who want to speak with them. Juliette is a real inspiration to me.

The support that the Scheme offers is unique and exceptional. I already feel much more empowered …. more confident in myself and more aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I have been able to think more objectively about what my goals are and have started to identify the steps towards achieving this.
